Well, last Thursday evening we announced the Beanie award winners at the Slashdot/Andover/VA shindig at The China Club. Theming was where I got started. Of course back then you didn't have nearly the flexibility that todays modern window managers allow. You had to edit dotfiles, or even hack the code itself to make it look 'just right'.
